Tree felling with a crane lorry

A crane lorry makes it possible to lift away whole trunk sections and crowns without anything falling.

It is the solution for very large trees, for trees that stand so tightly that nothing can be dropped, and for dead trees that will not bear a climber.

The pieces are lifted over obstacles, placed on the flatbed and driven away in the same visit.

How we work with the crane

The crane lorry is set up where it can reach the tree, usually on the street or the driveway so that the lawn is spared the load.

An arborist climbs up and attaches the crane's cable to the piece to be taken, cuts it, and the crane operator lifts the piece freely over roofs, fences and cables down to the flatbed.

Then the next piece, until the tree is down.

Because nothing falls, nothing needs to be rigged, and because the pieces land on the flatbed, nothing needs to be carried.

That makes the crane lorry the quickest method for large trees, and often the gentlest on the garden.

When the crane lorry is right

Large trees near houses, power lines or roads where nothing may fall. Dead or rotten trees that are dangerous to climb. Trees that lean over buildings.

Several trees on the same plot, where time is saved by loading everything directly. And places where the brash and trunks are to go anyway, since the crane lorry takes them with it.

The crane needs to get up to the tree, in practice within about one crane length, and it needs firm ground to stand on.

If that is not possible, we take the tree down with sectional felling instead. Which suits we see at the home visit.

Questions about crane tree felling

Is there room for the crane lorry on my street?

An ordinary residential street is enough, but the crane must reach the tree and the ground must bear the outriggers. We check that at the home visit, and if there is any doubt we would rather test than guess.

Is a crane lorry more expensive than climbing?

Per hour yes, per tree often not. A large tree that would take a whole day to take down in small sections takes a few hours with a crane, and the brash is already gone. We calculate both ways and suggest what works out best for you.

Do you take crane jobs for companies and municipalities?

Yes. Among our clients are Trafikverket (the Swedish Transport Administration), Växjö municipality, Alvesta municipality, the Church of Sweden and several tenants' associations. Trees by roads, cemeteries and residential areas are typical crane jobs.

What else we do

The jobs often go together: the tree comes down, the stump is ground and the brash leaves with us the same day.
